As of June 5, 2014, we have a few spaces left for the Astronomy Course for summer 2014.

The Blue Ridge Earth Science Collaborative will be offering an Astronomy Course from June 23-July 3, 2014 for teachers in Virginia. The course will be held at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. It will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. everyday, with three evening programs from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Housing and a modest meals stipend are available for teachers that cannot commute each day. For completing the course, teachers will receive 3 graduate credit hours and $200 of educational materials. Teachers are responsible for paying $150 in tuition for the course. Please check with your school division on reimbursement policies for professional development courses. Your school division may cover some or all of the cost.

To apply for the course, please fill in the appropriate information and answer all questions. Please do not apply for the course unless you can commit to attending every day, June 23-July 3, 2014. When you have completed the application, a thank you screen will appear letting you know that it has been received.

Funds for the Blue Ridge Earth Science Collaborative courses are provided by a grant from the federal Improving Teacher Quality State Grant (Title II, Part A) Professional Development Program administered by the State Council for Higher Education for Virginia.
